EA ‘Conservative’ In Its Q4 Forecast Despite Strong Q3


Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello said his company had a "more conservative outlook" for Q4 ending March 31 than originally projected, despite the strong results that it reported for Q3 ended Dec. 31 (CED Feb 2 p6).

 

Three factors led to EA’s "revised" Q4 forecast, Riccitiello said in an earnings call.  He said EA shipped an unspecified number of units of its massively multiplayer online role-playing PC game Star Wars:  The Old Republic at the end of December in Q3 of fiscal 2012 rather than in early January of Q4 as originally expected.  EA also delayed an "important social game" that he didn’t name from Q4 until Q1 of fiscal 2013, and it’s "concerned with the financial condition of one of our major European retail partners ...
