Q3 Digital Growth Offset Decline in Packaged Game Sales, EA Says


Growth in revenue from digital products offset a continued decline in the sale of packaged games in Q3 ended Dec. 31, Electronic Arts said.  Digital revenue grew to $274 million from $195 million in Q3 last year, while publishing packaged goods and other revenue fell to $738 million from $767 million.  Packaged goods revenue tumbled to $49 million from $91 million.  Total revenue inched up to $1.061 billion from $1.053 billion.

 

EA also narrowed its Q3 loss to $205 million, or 62 cents a share, from $322 million, 97 cents, in Q3 last year.  The "strong" holiday quarter results were driven by solid sales of Battlefield 3, FIFA 12 and "a strong showing by our digital games and services," said CEO John Riccitiello.  Battlefield 3 and ...
